"UPDATE ON MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I would give Carlos 10 stars if I could. I recently invited a senior pup (Buddy - 13 yrs) to stay with us for a few weeks while his pup-parents went on vacation overseas. My pup (Caramella - 2 yrs) was aggressively trying to get him to play with her, and it was creating a pretty stressful environment for them both. I invited Carlos to come over and give us some guidance on how to best navigate their interactions, and boy, am I so happy we thought of him! After just one session with coaching and examples, we have some effective techniques to navigate their vastly different energy levels, and are at least enjoying a nap long while I work in my office (see newly added photo). Original Review: I have nothing but great things to say about Lil'o's Club and Carlos. I am a first time dog owner, with all the tendencies and desires to give my puppy everything she wants, while knowing very well that isn't good for her in the long run - but didn't know how to go about putting positive reinforcement in practice for some of the tougher things in training. Carlos is a dog lover at heart, and you can see how his knowledge, experience, and true caring for the well-being of his 'students' drives everything he does. He creates an environment where Puppy Play Sessions are safe and educational, guiding good behaviours while letting our pups have fun; he gently reminds us pet parents what undesirable behaviours we are inadvertently reinforcing, and helps us encourage our pups to make "good choices". "Carlos was very kind and non judgemental off the bat. He listened to my concerns and provided a lot of tips and tricks to help. After just an hour and a half of private training, I’ve already seen an improvement in my puppy. The training focused on strengthening my puppy’s decision making which inevitably corrected unwanted behaviours. I found this approach very effective as it focused on the positive behaviours which allowed my puppy to remain stress free yet engaged. "I bring my chihuahua to Lilos club here and have been going weekly since October 2022. It’s the only service around Oakville/Missisauga/ Milton that offers specialized play sessions to dogs 1-10lb. The sessions have been key in helping Ava develop and socialize she has grown into a confident dog and is learning how to play from all her friends with guidance from Carlos. The play sessions are affordable, accessible, and Carlos the trainer gives great training tips, we have seen great improvements at home as well. During the play seasons the dogs also have acsess to swimming and agility equipment. These have been great for building Ava’s confidence. We love The LILOs club community and how much they care about Ava’s success. We have 3 dogs and have tried lots of training services and play classes over the years and this is the one we have stuck with and have seen the most benefits from. "..my dog wouldn't go into the elevator nor would he take the steps at the new building we moved into as he was never used to an apartment life before. Thanks to Pawblem's easy online appointment scheduler, I was able to book an appointment the very next day and Carlos came to my place promptly on time. Not only did he help my dog overcome his fear of elevators but, also helped me understand my dog's mentality and how best to train him. He was gentle but firm with my dog and took his time with him unlike other trainers who would push for extra sessions once the time is up. He genuinely worked through the session without rushing. "My daughter and I got an 8-week old chihuahua. Super cute, also super intelligent. Between many adds, I found Carlos and his company and decided to go with him. Best decision ever made!! He really doesn't train dogs, he trains people....lol. And really, how can you train an animal if you don't understand him/her. Carlos spent half a day with us, and I can now eat my food on the couch, where ever, without Beia crawling over me, while I'm trying to eat my food. "Carlos spent an evening at our house to help us with Zoey and we did many brain games with her as he suggested there was more needed then us physically tiring her out....a happy puppy/dog is a happy puppy, which we hadn't thought of. We immediately go into a routine with Zoey of making her work for her food often (smaller meals) and this helped amazingly satisfy her so she is more settled being alone (and food in her belly). Carlos suggested a couple of brain games that would help us, and even a couple days later he sent us a treat rug for Zoey that makes her sniff out her food..and she loves it. "My puppy Theodore likes to jump up on people. Carlos came in and immediately started working. As soon as he sat down Theo started to jump on him but continued speaking to me as if he wasn’t there. I then saw Theo sit in front of him quietly and patiently (something that doesn’t usually happen), it was then that Carlos rewarded him by inviting him into his space. I was truly surprised. He helped me to teach Theo to follow me when walking instead of him pulling on his leash and leading.
