Fall Canadian Pet Expo 2026 in Mississauga
The Fall Canadian Pet Expo brings pet lovers, businesses, animal professionals and pet communities together for a full weekend at The International Centre in Mississauga.
This year's event includes the Canadian Pet Expo alongside the Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo, Plant Expo, Canadian Aquatic Expo and World of Curiosities, plus activities and attractions throughout the weekend.
You'll also find a large marketplace of pet businesses, products, treats and services.
And yes, you can bring your pet, but there are a few things you should know before deciding whether your dog should come with you.
Bringing Your Dog to the Canadian Pet Expo?
Pet expos can be exciting, but they're also busy environments filled with people, dogs, sounds, smells and activity. Some dogs absolutely love that. Others don't..
Before bringing your dog, think about how they normally feel in busy indoor environments and around unfamiliar dogs and people. Your dog doesn't need to attend just because dogs are allowed.
If your dog is comfortable exploring busy places, the Expo can be a fun opportunity to experience something new together. If your dog tends to become overwhelmed, needs significant distance from unfamiliar dogs or people, or simply prefers quieter environments, they may have a much better day staying home.
There will always be another adventure you can enjoy together.
Canadian Pet Expo Pet Rules You Should Know
If you are bringing your dog or another pet, make sure you review the Canadian Pet Expo's official pet waiver before attending.
Some of the current requirements include:
✔️ A completed pet waiver is required.
✔️ Leashes cannot exceed 48 inches (4 feet).
✔️ Retractable leashes are not permitted.
✔️ Dogs and cats must be at least 17 weeks old and meet the vaccination requirements listed on the waiver.
✔️ Pets should be healthy and free of recent symptoms of contagious illness.
✔️ A maximum of two pets is permitted per person.
✔️ Pets must remain under their person's control.
✔️ Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
These are only highlights. Always review the current official waiver before attending, since the event organizer's requirements take priority.
Helping Your Dog Enjoy the Pet Expo
If your dog is coming with you, don't feel like you need to see the entire show at their pace.
Let your dog stop and take in the environment. Give them space from other dogs when they need it. There is no reason every dog needs to greet another dog simply because they're at a pet-friendly event.
Bring high-value treats and fresh water, and pay attention to changes in your dog's body language.
Signs like repeatedly trying to move away, refusing treats, excessive panting when they aren't hot, becoming unusually vigilant, hiding, freezing or struggling to settle can all be reasons to find a quieter area or take a break.
The Canadian Pet Expo provides dog rest stations and allows same-day re-entry with a stamp, so taking your dog outside for some downtime doesn't mean your visit has to be over.
For smaller dogs, a stroller or suitable carrier may also provide a comfortable place to rest if your dog is already comfortable using one.
The goal isn't to keep your dog at the Expo as long as possible. The goal is for both of you to have a good day!
Handy Pet-Expo Gear
A few things can make navigating a busy pet event with your dog easier.
Harnesses
A comfortable, properly fitted harness can make walking through a busy environment easier without putting unnecessary pressure around your dog's neck. We will be selling 2 Hounds Design harnesses at our booth at the show.
4-Foot Non-Retractable Leash
For this event, leave the 6-foot leash and Flexi leash at home. The Canadian Pet Expo currently requires pets on leashes to use a non-retractable leash no longer than 48 inches.
Safety Attachments
A backup safety attachment can connect your dog's harness to their collar and provide an additional layer of security in a busy environment.
Leash Sleeves
A leash sleeve can help communicate to others important information before someone decides to approach your dog, such as asking for space or not petting.
High-Value Treats
Bring something your dog genuinely loves. Treats can help reinforce check-ins, moving away from distractions and other behaviours you want to see more of while you're exploring.
Water & a Portable Bowl
Bring fresh water and give your dog opportunities to drink throughout the day rather than waiting until they appear thirsty.

Can I bring my dog to the Canadian Pet Expo?
Yes. The Canadian Pet Expo is pet-friendly, but pets must meet the event's requirements and attendees bringing a pet must complete the official pet waiver.
Whether your dog should attend is another question.
Busy expos aren't enjoyable for every dog, so consider your dog's comfort around crowds, unfamiliar dogs, people, noise and busy indoor environments before deciding to bring them.
Can I use a retractable leash at the Canadian Pet Expo?
No.
The Canadian Pet Expo's current rules state that retractable leashes are not permitted. Leashes may not exceed 48 inches, or 4 feet, in length.
Do I need a pet waiver for the Canadian Pet Expo?
